The Works of Edith Green
My latest works are those of doorways, a metaphor for life. Doors and windows have always intrigued me because of the wonder of what lies within. Sometimes they are the beginning of new experiences and sometimes the end of others. From a painter's point of view, it is a device to bring texture and surface to the canvas.
Other works are my collaged canvasses which compel a second look in order to see the juxtaposition of the various materials used to create the painting.
I am fascinated with the possibilities that papers and the printed word in many languages bring to the canvas. Painting with paper and paint helps me create works that add interest to the viewer.
These collaged images are grouped within various themes, including my manuscript series, kimono series, and landscapes and cityscapes of my favorite travel destinations.
