Marjorie has been a professional artist since the late 1960's, when Lublin Graphics first began publishing her editions of color etchings. In the 1970's she began her career as a self-published artist. She has met many people of the art buying public by attending International Art Expo's where, since 1978, she exhibited three or four times a year in many locations across the United States. Perhaps you are one of these people. Welcome!
Tomchuk maintains a very busy work schedule. Not only does she produce new editions each year, she also has a very active extra-curricular life. She has volunteered her time to run a very large and successful "Art of the Northeast" competition, sponsored by the Silvermine Guild Art Center, New Caanan, CT. She participates in the International Association of Papermakers and Paper Artists with recent meetings in Kyoto and Copenhagen. She has traveled to China and Burma, researching the evolution of handmade paper. Another one of her interests took her to Istanbul for the International Marblers Gathering.
Tomchuk has exhibited in galleries throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, Mexico, Australia and Japan, and is found in many museums. The most recent acquisition came from the Department of State where four of her images were chosen for the Art in Embassies Program. She has work placed in over two hundred corporate collections. She has had a one person exhibition of her art at the American Museum of Papermaking, Atlanta, GA in July, 2001.
