The Art of Bronze Casting

The Making of the Original Mold

Once the original is sculpted in clay or wax a mold is taken of the sculpture. Rubber is poured or brushed over the original sculpture.

It is then backed by a hard casting (which is usually made from plaster or plastic) to keep the form. Once all parts of the mold are dry the casting is removed and the rubber is cut to release the original.
